Thanks for writing this, Caleb. This prayer is dear to me also. Recently, after a difficult correspondence, I searched through the Every Moment Holy books for the words I needed, as I didn't have them myself. I found this prayer, but as it turned out I was simply rediscovering it. As it turned out, it was bookmarked, presumably from the last dream that died, or perhaps the one before that. I cried while I prayed. God came close.
This article brought it all back up again.

Caleb, I'm sorry for you and your wife's dreams can't be. That sucks, and I sort of understand, my Dad's creative movie dreams died with him. So I kind of understand the death of dreams.
I really resonated with on the platform building part as well. The push to perform instead of just be present in the moment is challenging.
Really liked what you said about, "And let success come according to God’s standard and in God’s time."
The world tells us to build fame, seek glory, God encourages us to build bridges and connection. I have to constantly pull myself back to seek authentic, genuine connections instead of name recognition. I don't do this perfectly, but meeting and talking with you helps me know I'm not alone in this.
As I said during a discussion when Andrew Peterson was here in Colorado, my Dad's life and work wasn't in vain. It seemed to help some people there at the event. Our creative dreams, work and activities aren't in vain if we don't achieve what the world acclaims.
It's hard, because we get mixed messages. You and your wife have more of a servent's heart than I do. I'm rooting for you and your family whatever path you take. We're not alone.
Caleb, I appreciate you vulnerably sharing this part of your story. I didn't know you and your wife had that desire/dream to be workers at L'Abri. I definitely understand and can empathize. One of the reasons we wanted to visit there in 2024 (when we met you and your family there) was to explore whether that vocation was for us as well.
Thanks - hope you and the family are well. Our hope is we can be enriched by the example of L’Abri in our own context. It’s a wonderful example of Christian community in many respects - but the work there comes with many demands and challenges. I hope you have found fresh direction since exploring it yourself, or if not, that the Lord will guide you in the right paths in time.

Yes! We loved our time at L'Abri. Learned so much; and yes, many demands and challenges there.
